It went to the wire but we did it! Going into the final fixture of the 2015 South Yorkshire XC League, Striders were in third place in Div 2, with only the top two teams to be promoted. Despite the atrocious conditions a brilliant turnout and a fantastic effort by all saw the club finish as Div 2 runners-up, catapulting us into the top flight for 2016.
This final league fixture also doubled up as the South Yorkshire XC Championships. The women’s race was won by Julie Briscoe (guest) in 22:33. There were 99 finishers. In the men’s race, Bertie Houghton in 33:11 (Hallamshire Harriers) lead home a field of 163 finishers.
A huge congratulations to David Birch for winning the men’s V60 title.
