Bluebell Fell Race 1 Result

Race Date: Sunday 6th March 2016

The Bluebell Chevin Fell Races are held over 3 dates in the year from Hazelwood in Derbyshire, in aid of ‘Running with David’ – a charity set up to help the people of the Kovalam area of Kerala in South India through education, arts and sport. The first races this year were on 6th March. The next are on Thursday 4th August and the final ones are on Sunday 11th September.

The main race is over a 7.6km course of 2 laps. The shorter race is 3.8km and is suitable for beginners. The course is one lap of the main event.

A downhill road start near the Bluebell Inn is followed by a short climb up a track on to the Chevin and then follows a long downhill section of fields to another road climb. A right turn takes runners down another 2 field descents followed by a 150m flat grass section before a climb diagonally across a couple of fields to rejoin the road to retrace the course up the field to the finish.

The winner of the first 2016 7.6km event was Billy Cartwright of Matlock AC in 31:39. Winning lady was Danielle Booth of Derby AC in 41:11.

57 runners took part, of which one was a Strider. Well done Simon Wiles!
