The Lairig Ghru is a category C Long Hill Race run over 43km(!) between the police stations of Braemar and Aviemore in Scotland. This classic race takes place in a spectacular setting, and follows an historic drove road rising to 2733ft between some of the highest peaks in Britain. The race route is a mix of road, forest trails and rocky single track. It doesn’t sound like one for the faint-hearted!

170 runners toed the line at Braemar police station, keen to get going on their journey to Aviemore police station through the iconic Lairig Ghru mountain pass as part of the 27 mile race – including one Strider, Stephen Hargreaves. A very well done to him.
