Bassingham Bash 2017: Five Miles in the Sun

Race Date 02 September 2017

If you want a pb and are prepared to travel a bit then this is a place where you can improve your five mile time. Rural, pancake flat and virtually traffic free, over the years this little Lincolnshire race has consistently attracted a quality field with 2017 being no different as Aaron Scott (Lincoln Wellington) lead the field home in a blistering 25:17 with Laura Kaye (Lincoln Wellington) first lady with 31:23.

Sunshine, commemorative mug, flapjack with free cup of tea or coffee what more can you ask for? Reasonably priced at £7:00 and well organised by Witham Runners with a community feel there’s even chip timing: gun start/ chip finish as with a field of only 203 the chip start is really an unnecessary expense thus keeping costs and entry fee down.

So, with all these positives, how is it that Nick Scott ran a stinker admitting that he ran the Retford Half faster earlier this year whilst Peter Brown ran a personal worst with his slowest five mile time EVER?

P Name Cat Time
24 Nicholas Scott M50 30:57
71 Peter Brown M50 36:34
