Wildest Peaks Trail Run Result

Race Date: 21st January 2017

Wildest Peaks is a moorland trail running event with a choice of long (26.7 km) and short (10.5 km) routes over the moors above Hathersage, Grindleford and Curbar. Originally planned to be staged in November last year, the event was postponed owing to bad weather and was instead held in January in the cold and mud.

The long course race was won by Lee Rawson of Kimberworth Striders in 2:05:01 and the first lady home was Lucy Gossage in 2:15:49. Whilst the official results do not give any clue to affiliations, could it be that the first lady is none other than THE Lucy Gossage, who is 2016 UK Ironman Champion? There can’t be that many Lucy Gossages in this world who would relish the tough conditions posed by our very own Peak District.

Two (even more famous) Striders completed the long course, Trevor Watson romped home in a time of 2:48:04 and Adrian Moss was not far behind in 2:50:46. Well done both.
