Race Date: Monday 1st January 2018

The Hardmoors 15 is a 15 miles-ish loop, including Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby and Ravenscar.

The route is a circular starting at Robin Hoods Bay following the rail trail briefly south before heading north on the Cleveland Way back through Robin Hoods Bay to pick up the rail trail again. Once on the rail trail the route continues northbound to Whitby, at the end of the line the Cleveland Way is once again picked up and is followed on its southward leg passing by Whitby Abbey and along stunning coastline to return back to Robin Hoods Bay and the Race Finish.

The race was won by Jonathan Weatherill (unattached) in 1:48:59, first ladies home (joint) were Claire Howard and Niamh Jackson of Totley AC and Kirkstall Harriers in 2:20:41. Must have been one hell of a sprint finish!

123 runners started 2018 in style by running the race, including our very own John Armitage, who started the year by both being in the lead for LDS and needing a new trophy cabinet – picking up a trophy by coming in at an impressive 16th place and being ‘1st Shire’. Well done John.
