About the Club
Steel City Striders welcomes new members at any time of the year.
The club welcomes runners of all standards from beginners to established runners. Although primarily a road running club with a strong presence in local road races, its members are also active in cross country and fell races. Formed in 1982 by a group of runners as a result of the first Sheffield Marathon, the club now has 200 members. How to join>> The club holds weekly training sessions at venues across Sheffield. It also organises a full programme of club events each year including the 10km Championship Race, the X-country Championship Race, the Road Race Championships, the Long Distance Strider, the Steel City Mile, the Sheffield Way Relay and the Dronfield Way Relay. These are often combined with social events. For the last few years the club has held a week of club events in early July.
