Race date: Wednesday 19th June 2015
The Oughtibridge Gala Chase forms part of the Oughtibridge Gala Sports Night which in turn forms part of the wider Oughtibridge Gala, which is held on the Saturday after, the 27th of June this year.
Phew, lots of plugs for Oughtibridge there.
Before the race there is a sports day for school kids; egg and spoon, running, skipping, obstacle etc, its a great night.
The Gala chase itself is a short trail race of 3.6 miles that starts in Coronation Park, has you run up Cote de Oughtibridge into and around Hague’s Wood before coming straight back down and finish back in the park.
71 runners took part this year with Joseph Sweetnam Powell of Sheffield RC winning in 22:11 pipping our man Ben Jones (22:37) into second place.
First lady home was Jenny Murray (unattached) in 25:21. Did anyone try to sign her up? 🙂
