Road Championship: Norton 9 Preview

Sunday 1st of March sees the annual running of the Norton 9 race organised by Askern District Running Club.  Its an important event for our club as its the first of ten races in the 2015 Steel City Striders Road Race Championship.

As the name suggests its run over 9 miles and is on an undulating course which could be the perfect warm up/training exercise for the Sheffield Half Marathon just 7 weeks later.

Its a hugely popular seasonal opener with 508 runners last year of which 28 were Striders (result from the archive site), many of whom were running in club colours for the first time.

As per usual, don’t worry about how fast you might finish the race, just turn up and enjoy running with other Striders.  Its a great way to meet members with the added bonus of getting some early points on the board in the Road Race Championship.

You enter online via the Askern District Running Club website at just £10.55, but you can also enter on the day if you wish for £2 extra.  The race starts at 11am, so be sure to arrive in plenty of time if you plan to enter on the day.

Don’t fancy travelling on your own?  Be sure to keep an eye out on the Striders Facebook Page closer to the race as there’s bound to be plenty of car sharing available, especially if you haven’t raced before or have never been out Askern way.

If you have any questions please post them on the Facebook thread.
