Race Date: Friday 10th June 2016
Castleton Fell Race is a picturesque race encompassing Lose Hill and Mam Tor with (According to the Gritstone Series website) 1503 feet of ascent over 6.7 miles.
The area was subjected to a month’s worth of rain within half an hour or so, just before the race. This made for tricky slippery conditions at times, though the rain abated for the race itself, for the most part. Hope Valley looked beautiful, hidden in places by low cloud.
The race winner was Alasdair Campbell of Buxton AC, in a time of 42:15. The winning lady was Anna Hoogkamer of Dark Peak, in a time of 53:26.
231 runners took part in the race, of which 19 were Striders. Well done one and all!
