Grizedale Duathlon result

Race Date: Sunday 20th March 2016

The Grizedale Duathlon is a unique multisport event based in the stunning setting of Grizedale Forest Park, in the southern Lake District. With stunning views over the Coniston fells and an extensive network of forest tracks and purpose built bike trails, this is a spectacular location for trail running and mountain biking. The event is suitable for all abilities, whether you have never competed in this type of event before or looking for a tough challenge.

The run will be a 6.5km climb up to Carron Crag, the highest point in the forest. This is a testing route with 255m ascent. The terrain incorporates a great combination of woodland singletrack, wide forest trails, then a superb rocky bridleway descent back to transition area and onto your bike…..

This year run 2 will now be the same route as Run 1. Tackling Carron crag once again  before a great descent through the forest to a well deserved finish.

The mountain bike route is a testing 24km circuit (clockwise) incorporating the full North Face trail with additional sections of undulating forest roads and flowing singletrack. This is a real classic bike route designed to incorporate a balance of terrain that will test riders of all abilities and take in many of the best features of the forest.

In total there were 69 individual finishers, 5 DNFs and 7 relay teams. Lone Strider, Mark James, was amongst the 69 individual finishers. Well done Mark.

The race was won by David Mirfield in a total time of 2.16.43. The first woman was Fiona Massey with a total time of 3.00.49.
