The race is held on the last Sunday in February each year, with the most recent one being held on Sunday 28th February 2016, which was the 26th running of the Huddersfield 10k.
The weather forecast in the lead up to the race was suggesting a cold dry day, and on the day the weather lived up to its promise making ideal running conditions.
The men’s (and race) winner was Tristan Learoyd, an ‘open category’ member of New Marske Harriersin a time of 34:27 minutes, a 30 second distance ahead of Stockport Harrier’s James Scott-Buccleuch, a male vet over 35, who came in at 34:57. Third place went to Peter Hoyle from Longwood Harriers who finished in 35:17.
The first lady finisher was Johanna Winks, a female vet over 35, of Halifax Harriers with a time of 41:24, followed home by Fiona Kesteven, female vet over 40, from Totley AC in a ‘notch up’ from her last year’s third place in a time of 42:42. Third place went to Penny Ditchfield from Melthan AC, also a female vet over 35 in a time of 43:33.
