Race Date: Sunday 29th May 2016
I have to say, I really enjoyed this marathon last year. As it clashed with Edinburgh this year, I couldn’t do it but I’ve already got my early bird entry in for next year.
It was as popular as ever with a smattering of Striders in attendance – well done to all. Apologies if I’ve missed you off here but the results are not out in full format yet. Anthony O’Keefe was guided round the marathon by Peter Macqueen in a good time of 04.24.35. They will tell you that they are unhappy with that but coming only a few weeks after their debut Ultra I’d have to say, ‘very well done’. Big shout out to Tim Holt who PB’d on the marathon by 10 minutes – well done Tim. Emma Beer PB’d and has cracked the 2 hour barrier at the half, sneaking just under the magic number in a time of 1.59.41. Brilliant effort Emma, well done.
The marathon was won by Robert Pope in 2.27.14. The first woman home was Joanne Nelson in 03.00.53.
The half was won by Degene Gezimu in 1.09.42. The first woman home was Helen Sahgal in 1.25.17.
