Race Date: Tuesday 29th August 2017
I can’t put my finger on what makes the Barrel Inn fell race such a great race. Is it the horrendous climb up that first hill, the flat bits that allow the rare fleeting glance at the scenary instead of the shoes, the compulsory glorious sunset, the camaraderie at the end or a combination of them all. The one downside is it’s one of the last midweek fell races of the season which means autumn beckons.
This 10.4 km race which an elevation of 460 metres attracted 154 runners this year and was won by Stuart Bond of DPFR in 40.29. First woman was our very own Caroline B in 48.43. Well done to Caroline and the rest of the participating Striders.
