Race date: 26th December 2017
Boxing Day 2017 saw the inaugural running of the Totley Two Turtle Doves (TTTD) fell race. After the race organiser took part in the Chevin Chase, a Boxing Day race up north in 2015 and 16 and absolutely loved it he thought about trying to organise a similar thing locally.
Like all the races from the Totley AC Pavillion a loop of the cricket pitch is mandatory before heading out briefly on the tarmac into Blacka Moor woods. The route will take in the Devils Elbow, a path not taken in any other races and will finish with the infamous dash down the horse fields. TTTD is 7.8km with 270 metres of ascent making it a BS category race.
This year was left relatively small, however, future ideas for additions of a Cracker Relay around the cricket pitch pre fell race, a sing song and plans to bring along left-overs from Christmas Day to be taken to local homeless shelters are all things which may happen in the future.
112 runners ran the race. The race was won by Alex Hinchcliffe of Vegan Runners in 0:35:20, first lady home was Jacqui Dyer of Totley AC in 0:44:12. 14 Striders decided it was time to run off the Christmas turkey and took part in the race: well done all. Special mention to Nicola Rafferty and Kate Scott who were 2nd and 3rd in their respective categories!
