Race report by Caroline Brock
A 6 mile (ish) race from the village of Ashover; another local evening race on a warm sunny evening, what is not to like! Entry fees were going towards raising money for the local school this year with a £3 suggested donation for entry.
This one has a bit of everything and I would thoroughly recommend it for next year. The trails around Ashover are brilliant and there was some tough climbing in there and great descents! Having done some mountain biking around these parts I was trying to work out if any of it was familiar on the way around, a good distraction from the pain! It felt tougher than it should have due to the warm evening but finishing by a pub meant plenty of opportunity for refreshments.
104 runners finished the race. Billy Cartwright, Matlock AC, won in 41.15 and Caroline Brock was 1st lady in 47.29, a new course record!
