Barcelona Half Marathon Results

Race Date 11.02.18.  Results by Alex Green

With many people deep into training plans for spring races, what better way to escape the arctic conditions of Sheffield than a trip to beautiful city of Barcelona.

Offering a fast and flat course and great running conditions it’s a perfect race for checking training progress and PB hunting.

The route starts by taking in the sights of the  port district before heading back to the city’s wide tree lined avenues. A long switch back between 13K and 16K offers a mental test before a slight sting at 18K with a ‘hill’.The last few K runs parallel to the beach offering an ocean view for those not concentrating on avoiding impending death before a finish in the shadow of the beautiful Arc de Triomf.

First Male home was Ethiopia’s Washiun Mule in 59:44 and his compatriot Dada Tejitu the first Female home in 01:08:36.

Of the 5 Striders taking part first home was Alex Green in 01:32:23, closely followed by Tom Brooks in 01:42:12. Hot on his heels was Kim Bateman with a huge PB of 01:42:19. Rounding out the green and gold cohort was Bill Brown and Matt Chappell who showed true marine spirit both finishing in 2:00:28.
