Coburg Harriers are a well established athletics club based in north Melbourne. “Established” is an understatement. The club was formed in 1896. As with all good clubs they have regular events each year. I was in Melbourne on a Sunday when they had the Coburg 16 event from their headquarters at the Harold Stevens Athletics Stadium.

It was a low key event comprising 2 loops of an 8k circuit around the picturesque Merri Creek. At the end in true understated style there was help oneself to tea, coffee and biscuits in a kitchen under a stand. There were no prizes only a certificate of merit. Bib numbers had to be returned for future events.

All in all a great low key feelgood event!!!!

The Male race was won by Shane Mallia in a time of 1:03:03.
The Female race was won by Jo Stavers in a time of 1:19:26
