MK MARATHON Result 2018

Race Report by Phillip Rogers

Race Date: Bank Holiday Monday 7th May 2018

This Marathon/Marathon Relay/Half/5K/Fun and the biggest mass participation race in the Home Counties. The route offers a mix of the new and the old and includes the original Milton Keynes Village, Bradwell Abbey which was built-in c1810 and St Andrews a 13th Century church in Manor Park.

The routes are very scenic and include numerous beautiful lakes, picturesque parks and even the meandering grand union canal.

On the hottest Bank Holiday in 40 years it was going to be tough.

The Club was ably represented by Steve, Ben and Tom. Tom earned his PB here in Milton Keynes a few years ago but pulled up at the 10 miles point – Valient effort in the gruelling conditions.

Ben provided this quote:

“It was so tough out there today but I made it around eventually. The legs started giving up on me at mile 3 having not recovered from my injury at Boston Marathon UK 3 weeks ago but I gritted my teeth and kept going. Great event with a bendy, undulating course incorporating more roundabouts than I’ve seen in the last year but the support was better than any I’ve experienced”.

3,261 runners took part with Denys Olefir of Saint Edmund Pacers coming in first at 02:37:40. Colleen Nicole Mukuya of Great Yarmouth & District AC was the first woman home in 02:57:40
