Spring Run For Fun @ Redmond Watershed
Once our holiday flights were booked a quick google search and trawl through race listings near Seattle and Vancouver returned this as the best option for a vacation race. Described by the organiser as “a local favourite thanks to its flat to gently rolling course with only a few short steep climbs. Lined with beautiful forest of Douglas fir trees and lush ferns, it’s the magic carpet ride of trail runs: All the scenery of a quintessential mossy Pacific Northwest forest.”
Four distances were available: 5/10 miler or half/full marathon distance on a loop course (1 or 2 small or 2 or 4 large loops respectively). I went for the marathon which had a very small field of 46 entrants. I was feeling pretty good until the hills started to get the better of me at the end of the third lap. In the end I managed to hold on to claim second place and have a lovely coffee mug to prove it.
The first female was Margaret Widlund in 3:49:54 and first male was Male Matthew Lewis in 3:21:26
