Race date: Friday 29th June 2018
Tideswell Fell Race is an annual race held during the village’s Wakes Week on a Friday at the end of June. While the race is relatively short (4.5 miles) is has some very steep ascents and descents, rising from a valley to a hilltop ridge and down again. It’s a cracking race (organisers said turnout was disappointingly down this year – perhaps due to the heat), but not too technical with stretches on a gravel path, so doable for any fell-running newcomers. All the steep bits are rewarded with amazing views, so there’s everything to love about the run. Prizes this year were some lovely looking local pottery pieces – so another plus for those at the sharper end of the field.
The overall winner was Harry Holmes (Pudsea and Bramley FC) in 26:02. First woman back was Gemma Cox (no club, 34:30)
80 people ran the race, including 5 Striders. Well done all.
