Race date 19th May 218
From early on it was looking like this was going to be a hot one, with an 11 am start running with the midday sun and little shade made this race a definite challenge.
The race registration starts at Cromford Meadows, and then we were guided onto our appropriate coaches to be driven to the start. A chance to mingle with fellow runners all fueling up.
A pretty nerve-wracking day, my first race in the strider’s vest, having only joined a few weeks ago and 2nd ever half after being out with an injury for around 9 weeks. 3 other striders were racing.
The route is along the high peak trail running back towards Cromford around the canal and is a lovely route with a descent into Cromford that was well received. Dan was injured part through but battled through till the end. It is definitely a race to consider with a nice mug at the end.
The winner was Greg Hopkinson of Beeston AC IN 1:16:25 First lady (26th place) of Matlock Athletic Club – Hayley Gill in 1:33:35
