Three lady Striders made it to Winster this year. The race fell on the night of one of England’s World Cup matches, so seemed quieter than last year, with a higher proportion of female runners.

It was another blisteringly hot day, but the race is only 4 miles so we just about made it. It’s a lovely little race though the picturesque village of Winster and the surrounding area. Much of it is on road or trail, so not a traditional fell race, but the atmosphere is great with the whole village turning out to cheer the runners home.

The race was won by Joe Oldfield (unattached) in 25 minutes flat. The first lady was Elsbeth Grant (Matlock AC) in 26:30.  First Strider to finish was Rachael May in 35:48.  Well done to all who ran.
