Draycote Water 10k 2019 Results

Race Date: 13th January 2019

Report by Leisha Shiner

Draycote Water 10k is part of a series that happens every month throughout the winter. It seemed like a good race at £13 and described as ‘Warwickshire’s best kept secret for road runners, Draycote Water offers smooth, flat road with stunning reservoir and countryside views. The run is alongside the water, using dam wall pathways and a perimeter service road. There are some short inclines and downhill stretches and on the 13th January there were some beastly gusts. Reading other race reports it seems it is always windy there. Rather frustratingly we were battling the wind for the first 5k as the course was very open around the water. The second 5K however, when I was banking on some help from the wind, was sheltered by trees for most of it.

Well organised race with plenty of prizes for those at the front of the pack in each race and for winners of the series as a whole. There were 565 finishers and there was even chance to sign up on the day. Winning Male was Ben Kruze, unattached, in 35.22, winning female was Natalie Bhangal, of Leamington C and AC, in 40.03. 2 striders finished the race.
