Pilsley Fell Race

Race Date 22nd August

6 miles approx

A pleasant evening and a lovely course attracted 15 striders amongst some 317 runners. The course has as much ascent as many fell races, but this ascent is broken up into many smaller hills rather than one big one, so truly undulating. This and a lot of thick grass to run through made it quite a challenge. There was also a sheep stampede to liven things up. The race gives the opportunity to run on some private land as well as through the Chatsworth estate.

The race was won convincingly by Stuart Bond (Matlock) in 38.25, some 2.5 minutes ahead of the second placed runner. First lady home was Katy Beacher (Les Croupiers) in 45.25.
