Roseberry Topping is part of the Hardmoors race series, and takes part along a very high up and exposed bit of the North York Moors. The race website is full of dire warnings about the conditions, which given it’s December just outside Middlesborough is entirely sensible.

The race winner was the appropriately named Sam Dunwell, in 4:10:50. First woman and third overall was Katie Kaars Sijpesteijn, in 4:40:55. Only four runners managed to finish sub-4 hours, which gives an indication of the race’s toughness.

One Strider braved the conditions and completed the course.
