Stanage Struggle Fell Race is a yearly race organised by Fat Boys Running club which raises funds for Hathersage primary school and other local causes.
It is a great (tough!) route involving a 2 mile climb up to Stanage Edge, a run along the edge up to the trig point and then a runnable fun descent through the moorland, fields and woods above Hathersage.
There is also a junior race which starts after the main race (which would be perfect for budding junior striders – I already have Ella lined up for next year!) Cakes, ice cream and hot drinks are all for sale at the end so there is a great atmosphere at the finish area.
There were 7 striders out of the 229 runners.
The first man was Martin Dawson from North Derbyshire RC in 41.23.
First lady was the very impressive Sheffield Half Marathon winner Phillipa Williams who was 2nd overall in 42.41.
I was 2nd lady overall.
