Wakefield 10k 2019

Race date 24 March 2019
This is my first time running the Wakefield 10k.
It is listed as an undulating course and even though there really is very little climbing, only 380 feet of gain(which is Sheffield terms is pretty much a downhill course) it never seemed to end. There were very few sections that felt flat or fast. An out and back route primarily on the A642 meant very little in the way of views.
I arrived at 8:15 am ready for a good warm up. Within 10 minutes we were ordered into lines ready to head up to the start. The guy next to me said they were at the start line for 40 minutes last year. We were told that the warm up would definitely get us warm. They must have done that somewhere else, either that or I was asleep. just over 1700 people headed down to the start. 15 seconds of music and we were off.
A nice blue t-shirt once we crossed the finish line given out by police cadets. The volunteers at this event were really polite and encouraging.
The first male across the line was Joe Sagar from Spenborough Ac in a time of 32:05.
The first female was Rebecca Winter from Ackworth Road Runners in a time of 36:32
Striders at the event were;
Position Name Time
101 Simon Ross 42:20
1066 Dawn Hindle-May 59:35
