Report By: Richard “The Aussie Strider” Cook
Race Date: Saturday 1st February 2020
In its 10th year, the SunRun is a local event held on the northern beaches in Sydney, and goes from Dee Why to Manly. A beautiful 10km (or 7km) course taking in the coastline with a few lumpy bits thrown in for good measure including a nice 800m uphill section right out of the gate to open the lungs up!
This year’s event was held in a sweltering 28⁰C and 90% humidity – and this is at 6.45am, but conditions didn’t stop the 10k course record from being broken! Alas I was not in the form of my life, but managed a reasonably respectable 53:46, for a first attempt.
The race was won by Ben ST LAWRENCE in 29:59 and first woman was Katie CONLON in 36:19. Richard was the sole strider out of 2220 finishers.
