Peak District Autumn Trail Run #4 2021 Bakewell

Race Date : 21st November 2021

Race report by John Armitage

Dark & White Events put on their fourth & final race of the Autumn Series this weekend, with race HQ @ Bakewell Agricultural Centre.

A ten minute walk took competitors north of the town, along the River Derwent, where both the Long & Short Course began.

Conditions were perfect, a cold crisp sunny morning and very quick underfoot – almost summer like, but bitterly cold!

Steel City Striders were represented on the Long Course which started with a steep climb out of Bakewell into a biting headwind, before heading South East onto a stretch of the Monsal Trail!

Here the Long & Short Courses parted ways, the Long Course heading up Station Road and into Manners Wood.

The route then circled further South East of bakewell for several miles of absolutely beautiful scenery – woods, rocky decents and wide open fields, scattered with sheep.

The finish line had been adjusted slightly because of the Bakewell Christmas Market, and the huge number of visitors & busy roads.

A final mile back on the Monsal Trail, then up and over, back down towards the Agricultural Centre.

The Short Course race was won by Szilard Krizmanics (unattached) in 00:19:50, and the first lady was Lucy Wasinski (Glossopdale Harriers) finishing in 00:25:20

The Long Course race was won by Adam Stirk of Wharfdale Harriers in 01:00:40, and the first lady was Jane Eaton of Belper Ten Twenty Triathlon Club finishing in 01:13:00
