The Yorkshire Coast 10k

Sunday 17th October 2021
Report by Gill Pearson
I came across this race by accident and someone one Facebook was wanting to transfer their place. So glad I took them up on this.
The route is from the Spa by the South Bay along the coast to the sea life Center on the North Bay. It is a mainly flat course with very slight undulations into Peasholm Park.
The scenery along the route was beautiful with the North Bay waves attracting many surfers. Support along the whole route was loud, plentiful and much appreciated.
COVID precautions were in place with segregated start areas, limited access to the Spa and one way systems for baggage drop but none of this spoilt the experience.
Each participant had a tree planted in their name and the medal was also made of wood.
A day that was forecast to rain turned out to be mild with some sunshine and a strong headwind on the finishing straight.
Definitely a race I would be keen to run again.
I was very pleased with my result.
The race was won by Lee Milburn of Rotherham Harriers AC (MSen) in a time of 33:03.  First female was Rhona Marshall (V40) of Scarborough AC with a time of 39:23.  Two Striders ran.
