Looe Summer 10k

Race Date – Tues 26th July 2020
Report by Sarah Percival
Looe Summer 10k was a great success with 80 entrants. It took place on a hot evening.
I was amongst one other Sheffielders! Matthew Payne from Dronfield Running Club.
The course started in west quayside with a short race brief. We had to wait for a firemen to divert the traffic and for several cars to move out of the way, in order to start! We sprinted under Looe’s bridge and weaved round the amusement centre. It was then a 500m sprint to the woods. In the woods we went up and down hills (extremely steep!), passed over a stream and finally got to the water station which was much needed.
We then had the relief from a downhill stretch back down to the river on a road section!
We then ran close by the river back into Looe on wooded trails trying to miss the tree stumps!
It was definitely a challenging summer run 6 mile course.  It was well marshalled and supported.
The race was won by  Matthew Payne – 1st male competitor (Dronfield Running Club) – 39mins 23 secs!!
Rebecca Ezra-Ham – 1st female competitor
– Dale Staff – 1st Loo male competitor
• Joanne Robinson – 1st Loo female competitor
I came 32nd in 57mins 14, as solo Strider.   I got a box of tea, cool bag and a banana! Not bad for a holiday race!
