Race Date: Sunday 14th August 2022
A boozy weekend in London with my Dad and my brother needs interspersing with some running so this weekend, after too many on Friday night I ran Mile End parkrun (extrememly hot) and after too many on Saturday I ran the Summer 10k at Regent’s Park, moved from 10.30 am to 9am due to the heat. Beneficial in respect of the heat but 90 minutes less to recover from my hangover!
The race itself is a low key 3 x 2 mile loop of Regent’s Park so plenty of opportunity for encouragement from my Dad. After training so much for the Bob Graham, it was unusual (and uncomfortable) to be racing again on tarmac.
These factors above allow me to justify why my time is significantly down on where it was a couple of years ago and I need to decide whether it bothers me (it does) and whether I will do anything about it (Mmm, not sure). Maybe if I start racing more road races, my speed will improve by itself? Maybe I just dislike 10ks (yep!)
The male race was won by Rob Drag of City of Salisbury RC in 37.19. The female race was won by Leanne Finch (unattached) in 38.51.
