On the eve of the final race in this year’s series of twelve, I thought it was worth taking a quick look at the situation in the six divisions. Remember it’s your best six results that count in the League (but only five in the Championship).
The Hendo’s Premiership
In the top flight, Rob Byers has a healthy lead and James and Nick can’t catch him. However, having only run five races, both Seth and Adrian could still pass him, as Rob’s run six. If Rob’s not there it may be a head to head battle between Adrian and Seth (assuming they both have places).

The Rumbelows League Two
Robert Hoffman and Laura Mella seem secure for first and second BUT Russell Stevenson may be one the one to watch. Unlike Rob and Laura he’s still got a race in hand, and on paper he’s capable of picking up 20 points tomorrow (assuming he’s there).

Woolworths Division Three
No one is catching Sarah in the third tier. She’s improved with every race, and she’s raced every race – in the last six events she’s secured 20 points every time. Jim Rangeley currently lies second and Kevin Haighton can’t catch him, but Kathryn Liddiard can, as she’s only raced five events. She’s also in fine form at the moment – I should know, she keeps easing past me in event after event of late.

Toys R Us Division Four
Another division where the winner is already crowned. Steve Blake has improved hugely this season and well deserves his 120 points. All those in the pack behind him have run six or more races; Kevin Wong is the only other competitor in all six divisions to complete all eleven races to date. Depending on their lowest scoring sixth result and their position tomorrow, there could still be changes between second and fourth.

Cole Brothers Division Five
The winner is settled here too; Graham has taken the top spot in the last six events and can’t be caught. Nada also looks secure in second place, but there could be some movements for third place; Vikki McAuley has reached six races, but Victoria Johnson, Stephanie Street and Simon Gleadhill could all pass her as they’ve only run five or fewer events. Will they be there to try and poach the final place on the podium?

Littlewoods Division Six
This looks like being an exciting race to the end. Jo Gleig and Lisi Briggs are neck and neck; both have raced six event but could pick up an extra point or two with improved positions. The last time they raced alongside each other, at the Sheffield 10k, there was just three seconds between them, with Lisi the victor. Just to make things even more interesting, Kimberley MacPherson and Andy Telford have both posted only five results this season, so could still snatch the trophy. Well worth watching this one.
