Race Date: Saturday 30th September, 2023
The Holme Valley Trail Half Marathon, is a hilly course with two loops of moorland and forested tracks. Experience of trail running and the half marathon distance is recommended.
The race is described as exposed sections of running, stream crossings, mud, rocky climbs and also a road section at the start, middle and finish. It includes a challenging climb after Holme Styes Reservoir which runners will ‘enjoy’ twice.
The competitors set off one hour before a second trail race – Stairway to Heaven – these two races are part of the Summer Wine Trails Series. These are the last races in the series, and those that choose the half marathon get double points for completing the longer race.
Sian Evans was the sole Strider taking part and was first lady home in 1:49:36 – brilliant, well done Sian!
First was Andy Smith (no club) in 1:32:37 out of the 38 finishers.
