I have taken part in quite a few Run Through events over the last few years. So I thought why not take part in one of their last events of the year – Birmingham running festival.

As always with run through events there are a mix of distances – 5k/10k/half marathon and juniors. I took part in the half marathon which comprised of an out and back section and then 4 laps round Sutton Park.

There was plenty of parking and the usual event stalls. The weather was windy but luckily the rain held off till after the race. There was a water station at the start of each loop.

The race had a friendly atmosphere and plenty of moral support for running in such windy cold conditions. I ran most the course with another runner from Beeston running club, which gave me the much needed support to tackle the hills.

The course was undulating. Plenty of hills but also plenty of downhills which made it a reasonably quick course. The course was all on tarmac paths within the stunning Sutton park.

Medals and goodies were available at the finish line.

The half marathon was won by Navid Salimipour Naghani, unaffiliated, in 01:16:05. The first female finisher was Natasha White of Northbrook AC in 01:23:22.
