The race has different distances 5k, 10k and half marathon and takes place Elvaston Castle Country Park.
The course follows a flatish multi-terrain route on a mixture of trail, tarmac and footpaths, going through the castle’s grade II listed grounds, past the iconic hall and the famous Golden Gates.
For the half marathon, which I took part in, there is an out and back section at the start then 4 loops round the park.
I noticed a few other Striders taking part in the event on a surprisingly warm day in August. With some excellent category results too!
The half marathon was won by Robert Dyjak of Tamworth AC in 01:16:20. The first female finisher was Raquel Garcia-Cabrera, unaffiliated, in 01:26:47.
