Race Date: Wednesday 3rd April 2024
The SYCAA (South Yorkshire County Athletics Association) Road League got underway on April 3rd with the first 5 miler at Elsecar.
Except for a short repeat stretch near the start/finish, the route is essentially a single lap on open roads. A short, flat trail section (with plenty of muddy puddles in recent years) gives way to pavements and tarmac for the remainder, which features around 110 metres of elevation.
A good Strider turnout for SYCAA Race #1 at Elsecar
52 Striders were among 372 runners who lined up for race #1. The men’s race was won by Kai Sunman of Barnsley AC in a time of 26:02. Ruby Sykes, also of Barnsley AC, won the women’s race in a time of 29:10.
