Derbion Ramathon – June 30th 2024

Race Report by Karen Clark

Another Run for All event, which moved from the first weekend in June to the final weekend in June. There were a handful of striders taking part, as it clashed with the RSR.

I had a complimentary place, for race up to the ½ marathon distance, having volunteered on a Run for All event, last year. I can’t say that this is the most inspiring race but I wouldn’t want to decline the offer of a complimentary race, with the t-shirt included.

The route hadn’t changed. It starts with about 5 miles of running on concrete before turning into Elvaston Castle Country Park and then follows the canal path to loop round, before returning to the road for the final mile. Another warm day, which didn’t make for optimal running conditions. There was one benefit – the canal path had been resurfaced, so the dust wasn’t flying up in runners faces

I had low expectations, but I enjoyed the race more than I expected.
