Race Date: Wednesday 4th June 2025
With the Loxley Lash 5k Race the same evening, only two Steel City took part in second event in this years series of open meetings at SHUCAS, Woodbourne Road with Kate Scott doubling up at the 400m and 800m and Yasmine Chaffer opting just for the 800m.

Girl power (Rob Byers)
Following her last track outing in the Northern League, Yasmine opted to go with the pack in the 800m rather than languishing in No-Man’s Land at an undetermined pace and found the racing experience far more preferable. Passing the bell in 72 seconds, Yasmine was still with the group at with 200m to go but then “suffered a deserved demise!” as the lactic acid kicked in but still finishing with a 6 second personal best, which is a good chunk of time over half a mile. (Editor: You can do the sums yourself for the second 400m.) In the 400m and 800m Kate ran seasons bests with 1:15.32 and 2:55.29 – the 800m is even more difficult having run 400m flat out only half an hour earlier.
