Race Date: Sunday 12th October 2025

It was a beautiful morning in Hade Edge, venue for the penultimate race in this years Road Champs & League, the Holmfirth 10k. As in past years, Race HQ was at the Hade Edge Bandhall.

On my previous visit in 2023, the race began with a small loop around the village, but a changed start saw runners immediately get stuck into the first big hill. The route is a lollipop shape; topped and tailed by the climb out and a downhill return on the Dunford Road, with a loop in the middle.

The loop features a 1k flat section next to Winscar Reservoir, and a half way water station at Dunford Bridge, immediately followed by a second big climb. Distance lost after the changed start has been restored in a short out-and-back section before the finish, which still features a lap of the field next to the band hall.

There were 24 Striders among 229 runners who lined up for the Holmfirth 10k. The men’s race was won by Wayne Singleton of Barnsley AC in a time of 35:11. Lydia Race, also of Barnsley AC, won the women’s race in a time of 41:09. Well done to Striders Paul Hargreaves, Dennis Hamer, Russell Stevenson, Harriet Davies, Jacqui Herring, Claire Wren, Jo Gleig and Dawn Jackson, all of whom picked up top three category prizes!
