The Kirkstall Abbey event in Leeds offered a range of different distances up to a full marathon on scenic trails along the River Aire and Bramley Fall Park.  The race celebrated 10 years of Grim Up North’s trail runs.

Dave Beech and David Hewitt joined 84 runners for the 8.8 mile option and both came away with age category wins.

Dave Beech reports:

“It was rather appropriate to run in a Grim up North trail race today given the conditions. As some of you who have tried these races will know they are quirky to say the least. With each 8.8 mile lap being a mix of tarmac, canal towpath, hard trail, soft trail plus uphill and downhill footpaths across muddy fields, the choice of races was one third marathon, two thirds marathon, full marathon, ultra and strangely half marathon. The start was set against Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds and as it was GRIM’s 10th anniversary it was cakes all round at the end”.
