Race Date: Sunday 12th October 2025
Four Steel City appear in the results as having completed this edition of the Manchester Half Marathon with three personal bests on a misty morning just perfect for racing.
There was redemption for Matt Spoor who was reportedly “Over the moon” after disappointing himself on what he described as a “hilariously rough day out at Newark in August” hitting it on one of those great leg days. He offers his apologies after complaining about his calf to anyone who’d listen all week. (Editor: a case of maranoia perhaps?) A tasty personal best from the year before with a sequence of aesthetically pleasing even splits.

A personal best too for Ben Naisbitt who went into this year’s race with last year’s experience proving vital. Knowing the course, and how much the slight inclines hurt from seven miles onwards meant that he ran a very cautious but satisfying negative split of 90 second and managing to take two and a half minutes off his previous time in Manchester. Although suffering some tight legs there he feels that he had more in the tank as evidenced by his splits but it’s now on to speed work and cross country season now. Abbie Haworth (Editor: get used to it) wasn’t quite so pleased with her splits finding it “All too easy and then all too hard” but still with a top twenty finish, smashing her own personal best and lowering her existing club record along the way. The final member of the Steel City quartet was Hayley Beard with a solid performance but a pb eluding her early ambition.
First across the line were sub 4 miler Joe Wigfield (Wirral) with a pb of 1:02:04 and Lily Partridge (Birchfield) again with a pb of 1:09:04. The results indicate that there were 22639 finishers. Link to full results: Manchester Half Marathon 2025 Results
