Race Date: Sunday 22nd June 2025
Race 7 of 12 in this year’s SCS Road Championships. A race around the historic market town of Penistone. The route starts with a loop around a local estate, before heading to the foothills of the Penines along quiet back roads. With 2.5km to go, undulation gives way to a steep downhill followed by a fast and flat finish along the Trans Penine Trail.
Reports suggest that conditions were a little humid but not too bad, and the whole loaf cake in the goody bag went down well.
Striders, assemble!
37 Striders were among 275 runners who lined up for the Penistone 10k. The men’s race was won by Mark Prince of Hillsborough & Rivelin RC in a time of 35:22. Suzanne McGill of Penistone Footpath Runners & AC won the women’s race in a time of 42:20. Well done to Striders Kathy Liddiard, Jed Turner, Jacqui Herring and Jo Gleig, all category winners.
