Race Report by Hannah Wright
Distance: 10 miles
As usual Grim Up North races offer different distances on the same day (5miler, 10 miler, 15 miler, 20 miler, marathon, ultra). I had opted for the 10 miler.
I first did this race a few years ago after a hefty session in Leeds and wanted to run it again in a less delicate state.
Rothwell Cakeathon takes place within Rothwell Country Park. Free parking and toilets are available at Skelton services. The course comprises a five-mile loop which is undulating in places. Due to the good weather this year both trail or road shoes were OK.
All Grim events are cupless and have a super friendly atmosphere.
At the finish line… you guessed it… plenty of cake.
Hannah was the sole Strider among 48 runners who lined up for the Cakeathon 10 miler. The men’s race was won by Terry Forrest of Cairngorm Runner in a time of 01:02:33. Charlotte Ellis of Methley Striders won the women’s race in a time of 01:22:48.
