Race Date 19th October 2025
Luke Mair returned to Amsterdam hoping to improve on the 2:59 that he ran here last year. A move to an (even more) demanding job meant he was unable to put in quite as much training as he would have liked getting “about what I expected off the training block!” with a rather painful final 10k. He declined the very kind offer of official photographs discounted to €39.99 for the set. No bonk for James Lawrence however who ran a fine set of even splits to come away with a pb beating his old mark by over four minutes.

Familiar to many in training as well as racing, this rather pronounced “bonk” from Luke is when the body’s primary fuel source, glycogen, becomes depleted, often around the twenty mile point. The mid-race wobble is the halfway timing mat being in the wrong place.

It’s not possible to identify competitors by club so if any other Steel City ran please shout up and results will be updated.
That the winners Geofry Toroitich Kipchumba (Ken) and Aynalem Desta (Eth) ran 2:03:29 and 2:17:34 seems irrelevant to us mere mortals. 23326 finishers.

Marathon and associated Half Marathon both start and finish at the Olympic Stadium, site of the 1928 Summer Olympics.
