The Drop (Sheffield), Race Report and Results

Race date: Saturday 9th August 2025
Distance: 10 miles (as the crow flies)
Race report by Hannah Wright and Mel English

Imagine a brisk Sunday morning, heading out for a run with your mate and fellow strider Mel.

What could possibly go wrong?

Blindfolded in a taxi?
No phones, watches, maps, GPS?
Having a tracking device planted in your bag?
Dropped off in an unknown location 10 miles from race HQ?
No route?
No help?

The Challenge: From the undisclosed location, you’ll need to find your way back to the event centre. The distance is measured as the crow flies.

From the moment you step out of the taxi, you are on your own. Run, walk, or crawl – just find your way back using nothing but your wits, determination, and sense of direction.

Just a typical run for me and Mel (team H&M) some might say.

Once out the taxi it didn’t take long for team H&M to regain our senses. Maybe it was instinct or maybe because we are so used to getting lost that we soon found our bearings.

Then the chase was on… we didn’t know where the other teams were. Had they made it back already? Or were they lost in the wilderness?

We negotiated the route and followed our gut. Somehow, we made it back to race HQ in one piece… but also second team back… and First Ladies.

Maybe we have found the race for us.
