Five Striders made the trip to Doncaster for a bit of early season track and field action. As usual in Doncaster someone had left the door open and a chilly wind was whistling down the back straight.

Lucy Broom was the busiest athlete in action, taking on the 200m, 800m and shot putt. She was close to her PB in the 200 metres, but her shot putt was clearly not helped much by the wind as she was a couple of metres down on her season’s best.

Yasmine, Kate, Jed and I took the opportunity to do the rarely run mile event on the track. There was a bonus of £50 for the first male and female runners, but with winning times of 5.18.82 (female) and 4.15.96 (male) we all went home somewhat poorer but wiser. Kate combined an afternoon of officiating with a new F60 club record to add to her already impressive list of performances.
