One of my favourite events in the calendar. Staffs LDWA put on an excellently organised event with a choice of 21, 23, 27 or 29 mile route depending upon whether you choose the 2 mile Shutlingsloe and/or the 7 mile Cheshire loop.

As both Steve and I are returning from knee issues (if you ever can at our ages) we decided initially on the 21 mile loop but the sight of Shutlingsloe was too much to resist so we did that too.

LDWA events are very relaxed. They are timed but there are no results, just a lovely certificate at the end. There was a snack station at the end of the Roaches, a feed station at Wildboarclough and a full meal and dessert at the end, all for a paltry £11 (members) or £18 (non members)

The route took in Gun Hill, the Roaches, Lud’s Church, Gradbach Mill, Three Shires Head and Shultinsloe. I honestly can’t recommend these events enough and I’ll be signing up for the Six Dales Way very soon.
