Race Date: Saturday 3rd January 2026
Organised by First Light Adventures, the Wolf Moon trail ½ Marathon was held on Saturday 3rd January, to coincide with the rising of the Wolf Moon.
The course is an out and back, starting and finishing at the Headquarters on Rock Lane. The course is undulating, running through Sutton Springs Wood and taking in the 5 pits trail. It includes some road crossings, which are marshalled. The race started at 2:30pm to allow runners to enjoy the wolf moon. (First Light offer an earlier 2pm start for runners who need more than 2 ½ hours to complete the distance).
Number collection is on the day. Parking is available, free of charge. Dedicated female toilets are available.
First Light Adventures’ events are friendly and can be run at a relaxed pace, allowing time to enjoy the views, chat with other runners and photograph the wolf moon.
It was a bitterly cold afternoon. Parts of the trail were starting to ice over, as temperatures plummeted further. Runners were required to carry a head torch, together with other essential kit, as some participants would be finishing in the dark.
There was an aid station, at the halfway point, providing water, squash, sweets and biscuits. Runners are asked to provide their own cups.
Runners are presented with a medal, as they complete the race. Refreshments including hot beverages, cakes and biscuits are available at the base camp, with a fire pit, to keep runners and spectators warm.
The male race was won by Danny Warren in 1.26.36. The female race was won by Emma Peace in 1.46.05. There were 90 runners
